Below are the links to my Week 3 projects. In our final week of this course, Chris Castig, who is our insanely informative instructor, asked us to upload them via FTP to a web hosting server:
PARTY TIPS – HTML & CSS
For this assignment, we were asked to build a simple HTML website with images.
Disclaimer: Nor you or Oprah will be winning a car. Hopefully this is obvious… LOL.
Since I’m rereading the Harry Potter series with my little cousins, I decided to go with a Harry Potter theme. I created a Places and Characters array, and listed a variety of places and characters from the books. Next, I researched how to associate each background image with a specific Places array (i.e. The Hogwarts Castle image should be associated with the Hogwarts Castle item in the Places array). Lastly, I designed the page using HTML and CSS to create a “look and feel” that reflects the Harry Potter books and movies.
The one thing I had trouble with was making this webpage responsive. I had no trouble with the first two, but for some reason this one was not happy when I scaled down the page no matter what I tried. I’ll have to start over from scratch, and add in little pieces at a time so I can figure out what’s causing the issue. Any who, hope you get a kick out of it!
I really enjoyed completing all three assignments in Week 3. I learned a lot through trial and error. If I couldn’t figure something out, I’d Google it, and read through a bunch of blogs and community forums until I found the little nugget of information I needed to solve the puzzle. Hope that helps!
